Kayla Harrison is an American judoka and professional MMA fighter, who competes in the Featherweight division of the PFL (Professional Fighters League) and formerly was fighting at Invicta FC. She is a former PFL Women’s Lightweight Champion, two-time Olympic gold medalist in judo. Her professional MMA record is 9-0-0 (W-L-D).
Kayla Harrison was born on July 2, 1990, in Middletown, Ohio, USA. She took up judo at the age of six, winning two national championships by the age of 15. Kayla Harrison is a 6th-degree black belt in Judo, winning the 2010 World Judo Championships, as well as the gold at the 2011 and 2015 Pan American Games. In 218 she turned to MMA, where debuted at the PFL promotion.
Kayla Harrison made her professional MMA debut on June 21, 2018, at PFL 2: 2018 Regular Season. She fought versus Brittney Elkin and won by armbar submission in Round 1. The same year, she had two more fights, registering victories versus Jozette Cotton at PFL 6: 2018 Regular Season (by TKO in Round 3) and Moriel Charneski at 2018 Season PFL Championships (by TKO in Round 1).
In 2019, Kayla Harrison had four fights. She started with two wins versus Larissa Pacheco at PFL 1: 2019 Regular Season (by unanimous decision), Morgan Frier at PFL 4: 2019 Regular Season (by keylock submission), before reaching the PFL Playoffs. She won her fight versus Bobbi Jo Dalziel at 7: 2019 Season PFL Playoffs 1 (by armbar submission). In the final, she faced Larissa Pacheco at the 2019 Season PFL Championships. After dominating every round with her superior grappling, Kayla Harrison won the fight by unanimous decision to win the 2019 Women’s Lightweight Championship.
On November 20, 2020, Kayla Harrison debuted in Invicta FC. She took part at Invicta FC 43 in the night versus Courtney King. Kayla Harrison won by TKO in Round 2.
In 2021, she returned to Professional Fighters League. Kayla Harrison won her fight versus Mariana Morais at the PFL 3: 2021 Regular Season by TKO in Round 1.
